Board President Remarks

  • Congratulations to May’s Excellence in Education recipient Brett Kelley. His presence will definitely be missed next year at the Fifth Grade Center.

  • May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

  • Thank you to the organizers of the Ladue Dance Marathon for the invitation; I had every intention of being there but my day just didn’t allow it. I was excited to see how much money was raised for a great cause.

  • Last Saturday, I attended the LAASA Brunch at the high school; congratulations to all of the award winners.

Superintendent Remarks

  • Over the past 2.5 years we certainly have learned how to ride and embrace the waves of change. I want to thank our Board and community for understanding our need to conduct tonight’s meeting virtually based on some members having been exposed to COVID-positive individuals.

  • I want to wish all of our Ladue Schools moms a belated happy Mother’s Day.

  • STEAM Day at Old Bonhomme was a huge success.

  • Spring Sing at Conway was also incredibly successful.

  • I had the opportunity to attend the Ladue Dance Marathon and had a great time. They did a wonderful job of raising money for Children’s Miracle Network.

  • I was unable to attend the LAASA Brunch but I’m told it was well-attended and a terrific event.

  • We are getting closer to the end of the year and closer to a few ceremonies that will take place soon. On May 26 we will host a groundbreaking ceremony at Reed Elementary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony at Conway at 11:30. On May 29 at 3 p.m. we will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Becky Sauerbrunn Field behind the Fifth Grade Center. I can tell our kids are excited about this event.

  • We continue to make progress on Prop L and I had a chance to tour our construction site with several parents last week. We had a great time and I want to thank Dr. Geoff Macy, Mike Noonan, and Carolyn Jaeger for attending that with us.

  • It’s an exciting time in the school year and Graduation on May 22 will be here before we know it.

  • I also want to thank Brett Kelley for his years of service and all of our teachers as well; last week, we celebrated our teachers in multiple ways for National Teacher Appreciation Week.
